Attack and exploit mitigation have very little with whether Microsoft is serving you ads (which you can toggle on or off). Privacy and security, while related to an extent, are different concepts.

The latest updates for windows 10 give you ads in the login screen, so that says a lot about how much they care about your privacy along with the numerous user telemetries/cortana/spyware that requires special apps like shutup10 to turn off. This is much the same as Google and Microsoft's cloud offerings. However, Apple is able to decrypt your photos, files, etc stored in iCloud without your password, so if someone breaks into your account through your security questions, or if Apple receives a court order, they're still at risk. Is iCloud encrypted and secure (provided there's a strong password)?Ĭommunications between your computer and iCloud are secured with HTTPS so are safe even on an untrusted network.
Not to say there won't be security benefits to it but they won't be significant.

The primary drivers of AFS have to do with better scaling to multiple TB, better support for Flash storage, etc. Is the new AFS going to be a big difference security wise? That doesn't mean you won't be exposed, though! It's become more of a thing over the past few years, and you can't just download whatever you find on the Internet and run it worry-free. Who is your adversary? Microsoft has invested a lot in security and exploit mitigation over the years, and Windows does a lot of clever stuff that OSX doesn't, but you're still going to be less exposed to adware and random malware on a mac.
